Summer In The City Just Got Better – and safer!

For you, it’s about keeping your child active, healthy and happy. For them, it means no school, lots of fun and sports all summer long. And that’s exactly what we’re all about at Hi-Five Sports Camp Chicago offering a full menu of team sports designed for boys and girls from Pre-K (4 years old) to 9th grade. Hi-Five Sports Camp Chicago is about so much more than winning and losing – it is about teamwork, playing hard and playing fair. And it is about making new buddies and enjoying the camaraderie. A camp that is as encouraging as it is challenging. As safe as it is high-energy. And as instructional as it is fun.

COVID-19

Over the past several weeks, we have monitored the COVID-19 pandemic very closely to fully understand how it might impact our camps scheduled for Summer 2021. To prepare, we have put an incredible amount of effort into planning, modifying our operations, and taking every precautionary measure possible to ensure the safety of our staff, campers and camper families.

The situation is extremely fluid so we recommend reaching out to us directly with any questions about summer camp availability. The entire Hi-Five Chicago family takes the health and safety of all our campers, counselors, and staff very seriously, and we have been closely monitoring the developments of COVID-19. At this time, we are planning to run Hi-Five Sports Camp Chicago 2021 as planned.

We are hard at work planning for a fun and jam-packed summer camp experience for each and every child, while keeping in mind the extremely-fluid health crisis. We are working closely with our local public health department and medical professionals to implement and maintain effective safety protocols and procedures.

We’re Sports Nuts.
AND Qualified Ones At That!

Just like our campers, we eat, sleep and breathe sports. Our staff is filled with professional coaches, high school and college athletes, as well as experienced physical education teachers who promote the fundamentals through personalized instruction and positive reinforcement – all this while always maintaining a sense of humor and fun!

No matter the skill level of the child, the goal remains the same: to have fun, while learning the value of teamwork and good sportsmanship. All of which results in a positive, self-esteem building experience.

And we’re not new at this. Hi-Five Sports Club has been serving families since 1992 at both our Northfield and Chicago campuses, providing safe, cutting-edge, skill-developing programs, such as Hi-Five Hoops Basketball Program and Hi-Five Lil’ Kickers Soccer Program.

Location

Centrally located at Chicago’s prestigious Whitney Young Magnet High School at 1430 W. Adams, our facilities include an air-conditioned camper activity center, auditorium, gym, cafeteria and indoor swimming pool, as well as 10 acres of brand-new turfed sports field, appropriately named ‘The Michelle Obama Sports Complex.’ Having outdoor as well as indoor facilities allows the fun to continue rain or shine or in times of excessive heat and humidity. We could not be more excited to be back at Whitney Young using the state-of-the-art fields day in and day out!

Chicago, IL

Will there be bus transportation?

Yes, for a fee. We are hoping to offer cluster stops to all our campers conveniently located around the city. Bus will be opt in only.

What measures are you taking to mitigate the spread of COVID-19?

Using the experience we gained during the Summer 2020 and all of our programs we have operated throughout this pandemic, we feel extremely confident in our ability to run camp safely. We plan to implement all necessary health and safety protocols in our day-to-day camp operations in order to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19 based on CDC, ACA and IDPH Summer Camp guidelines. We will follow the experts’ guidelines to a T.

Where and when does my child get picked up and dropped off from the bus?

Once you have signed up for Hi-Five Chicago’s bus service, you will be provided with a drop off and pickup cluster stop.

What should my child bring to camp?

All campers need to bring to camp is athletic shoes, a water bottle marked clearly, a mask, a hat, and sunblock (optional).

Is there an After Camp Program?

Yes, the After Camp program operates from 3:00 pm – 5:30 pm.

Is there an additional cost for after-camp?

Yes, it is an additional $125 per week.

Will there be field trips?

In a typical year, yes. We go to water parks, trampoline parks, baseball games, bowling alleys, etc. However, we will have to wait and see what the status of the pandemic is by the time camp rolls around. Last summer, no outside field trips were not recommended by the American Camp Association and the CDC. We are keeping our fingers crossed that we will be able to bring the kids to our favorite field trip spots. If we are not able to, we are already planning on how to bring the field trip experience right to camp.

Is there an instructional swim program?

Yes, there is an instructional swim program in a typical summer. There was not a swim program in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions. We are awaiting more guidance on this for Summer 2021.

Is there a lunch program available?

Yes, campers who sign up for the lunch program will be provided with an individually-packed catered lunch every day. Seconds are encouraged!

What is the staff-to-child ratio?

5-6 campers: 1 staff member

Can you customize your weeks?

Yes, you can. You can choose to go any combination of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 weeks.

When are camp fees due?

May 1st all camp fees are due. You always have the option to pay-in-full too.

What do the campers do during inclement weather?

We have great indoor facilities including an air-conditioned cafeteria, classrooms, gymnasiums and a theater! These great facilities allow us to continue the majority of our daily activities even in the event of rain or extreme heat. We may plan some off-camp activities in the event of rain as well.

What happens if my child sustains an injury at camp?

If an injury occurs, campers will be brought to our on-staff certified athletic trainer. If not too serious, once the injury is dealt with, the trainer will call the parents to notify them of the injury. If serious, Hi-Five will call 911.

What if my child has allergies or necessary medication?

Campers taking medication must have a signed medical authorization form. Please send the medication with your child on the first day of camp. Our on-staff Certified Athletic Trainer will keep it for the summer and administer it per your authorization. Please CLEARLY LABEL all medication.

Is Hi-Five only about sports and competition?

Heck no! We provide a safe, encouraging and fun environment in which children can experience sports. We strive to make Hi-Five an experience filled with high-energy and positivity. We believe athletics builds confidence and ultimately provides a focus that is important all through life. In addition to sports, we have talent shows, Halloween in July, and all sorts of fun, engaging activities for your camper to enjoy.

So, is camp happening or not?

We are definitely hoping it will! However, we will follow all guidelines per the CDC and American Camp Association.
